A. Lange & Söhne SAXONIA
Dresden watchmaker Ferdinand Adolph Lange laid the cornerstone of Saxony's precision watchmaking industry when he established his manufactory in 1845. His precious pocket watches remain highly coveted among collectors all over the world. The company was expropriated after World War II, and the name A. Lange & Söhne nearly vanished. In 1990, Ferdinand Adolph Lange’s great-grandson Walter Lange had the courage to relaunch the brand. Today, Lange crafts only a few thousand wristwatches per year, predominantly in gold or platinum. They are endowed exclusively with proprietary movements that are lavishly decorated by hand and assembled twice. With 65 manufacture calibers developed since 1994, A. Lange & Söhne has secured a top-tier position in the world of watchmaking. The SAXONIA was one of the four watches that debuted in the first collection in 1994. Since then, with its purist and simultaneously elegant design, it has retained a permanent place in the collection. Its name testifies to the fact that exclusive mechanical timepieces are being crafted in Saxony again, a tribute to the renaissance of Saxon precision watchmaking. With the first manufacture caliber introduced in 2015, it embodies the tradition of sublime mechanical watches that was revived in 1994, highlighting purism, elegance and the A. Lange & Söhne benchmark precision. The lavishly and meticulously finished surfaces as well as the three-quarter plate in German silver express the Lange quest for perfection just like the hand-engraved balance cock, the screwed gold chatons and the classic screw balance.
