Built on a 1935 brief
In 1935, Panerai delivered its first prototype divers' watch to the Royal Italian Navy — a case built to be read at a glance, in low light, by a hand that couldn't afford to hesitate. Ninety years on, the Luminor Marina still carries that instrument logic: the crown-protecting bridge, the sandwich dial, the small seconds tucked at nine o'clock so a commando could confirm, without a word, that the movement was still running.

Carbotech, layer by layer
Carbotech is built the way plywood is built — thin sheets stacked, compressed, and fused, except here the sheets are carbon fibre and the binder is PEEK, a high-performance polymer that survives the pressure and heat of the process intact.
Every case comes out of that process with its own marbled grain, so no two are quite identical. The result is a case that's lighter than titanium and more resistant than steel, without changing a single line of the silhouette Panerai has used since the 1960s.

Three days without a wind
The P.9010 is Panerai's own automatic calibre, engineered in-house at the Laboratorio di Idee. Twin mainspring barrels wind independently and release their power in sequence, extending the reserve to three full days — well beyond the one-day standard of most automatic movements, and true to Panerai's approach to building instruments rather than ornaments.
The crown carries a second function. Drawn out to its first position, it lets the local hour hand advance or retreat independently, in single-hour steps, without disturbing the minutes or seconds — a mechanism built for officers on the move, changing time zones without losing precision.
